Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu is the largest public residential university of Asia. In 1929, Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar founded Annamalai University. Since its start, the university successfully achieved the aims of its founder. Later, Padma Bhushan Dr. Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar, son of Annamalai Chettiar, developed the university.
Dr. K. ROSAIAH, Governor of Tamil Nadu is the current Chancellor and Thiru K.P. ANBAZHAGAN, Minister for Higher Education is the current Pro-chancellor of the university.
Since the last eighty-two years, the university has grown rapidly contributing an important part in education. The university consists of around 3240 members and has 49 different departments of study. The university has accredited as ‘A’ grade university by the National Assessment and Accreditation council.
Annamalai was the first known private university of India. Later, in 2013, Tamil Nadu government overtook the university. It was the first educational institution to offer post graduation courses. The university is widely known for its infrastructure, faculties, administration and study centres serving high-quality education to students.
The University offers higher education in many courses from engineering to medical and many other courses. Also, the university offers distance education to those who can’t attend college regularly in more than 500 courses. The courses include yoga, fashion designing, interior design and much more.
Admission registrations in university, for all courses, are available through online applications. Students require fulfilling the eligibility criteria for admission. However, admissions are given by marks scored in qualifying exam. Students who scored highest marks in their qualifying exams are given priority.

Annamalai University generally follows semester patterns for the second, third and fourth year but, it has annual exam pattern for the first year. Exams for different courses for even are held on different days. Normally even semester exams begin in the April or May and odd semester exams begin in the month of November or December.
Distance learning education follows the same semester patterns as regular courses pattern. Even semester exams for the distance learning education are held in the month of May. Odd semester exams are held in the month of November and December.
Students who get failed in the exam or do not fulfil the attendance criteria can give their exams in next semester. For example, if a student gets failed in the odd semester he can give his supplementary exam in an even semester or vice versa. Students need to register for the exams by filling the examination registration form.
Last year odd semester exams were held in the mid of May and the even semester was held in the month of December. The exams for regular streams and for distance learning education courses are held in the same month. Annamalai University Results Declaration Details
Results for the odd semester exams gets declared in the month of May or April and that for the even semester exams gets declared in the month of June for regular as well as distance learning courses. Supplementary exams results get updated with the other regular exam results.

The odd semester results, held in December, got announced on 12 April 2016 and those for the even semester results will get declared in the mid of July for, regular streams as well as for distance learning courses.
