Kanpur University, in Kanpur, is a public state university of Uttar Pradesh. The campus is on the Grant Trunk road of Kanpur. In 1966, Agra University split into Agra and Kanpur University. Governments build it to cut the burden of Agra University. Later on, Mayawati changed its name to Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaja University. Maharaja was the King of Kolhapur. He was also known as the Shahu IV. Mayawati is the ex-chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Ram Naik is currently holding the seat of Chancellor in it. And, Prof. Jayant Vinayak Vaishampayan is the Vice Chancellor of it.
CSJMU, CSJM and KU are the other names of it. Uttar Pradesh State Legislature controls the KU. KU is widely known as one of the largest university of Asia. It serves to both rural and urban area. It has accreditation from UGC, NAAC and AIU.
CSJMU has around 170 colleges in near 15 districts. Students from all the region study here irrespective of their caste. Around 2.5 Lac students join KU to continue their higher education. Kanpur University Time Table Examination Details
KU has both annual and semester system for different courses. Some of the arts, science and commerce courses have annual exam system. Other courses like technical, journal, law and some of the master courses have odd and even semester system. Exams for different courses occur at the different dates but during same months. Odd semester exam starts in the month of July and continues till the end of December. The Even semester begins in the month of January to ends in the May month. KU conducts odd semester exams in the month of December. It organizes even semester exams in May month. Like all other courses, it conducts law exams in the same time span.
The annual semester is 10 months from June to April. The session starts by the end of June and ends in the month of April. KU starts conducting exams by the start of May and the exam continues until the end of April.

The university conducts supplementary exam for all the students who fails in the exams. Students who do not meet the attendance norms are also not allowed to give exams.
