Punjab police job types and eligibility criteria
Jail warder
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has revealed the latest job vacancy details. There are 305 jail warder vacancies.
The minimum age limit is 18, and the maximum is 25. The candidates should have passed 10+2 grades/or its equivalent from an authorized university/board.
The annual pay including the allowance is expected to be
Constable
The aspirants looking for the constable post should have completed 10th and 12th grades/any equivalent study from a recognized university/board.
The aspirants can write the Punjab police service commission exam to recruit as the constable in any Punjab areas.
They should have enough marks and the ability to qualify for this.
The annual pay including the allowance is expected to be 1 lakh to 5 lakh (based on the experience)
Head constable
The aspirants should have completed 12th grade/intermediate/bachelor degree /postgraduate degree in any field of study from a recognized institution is accepted.
After finishing the 12th grade, the candidates can write the Punjab police service commission exam. If they have score more marks, they can get into the post of head constable. If they have not scored enough marks, they will get only a constable warder post.

Sub-inspector
The aspirants who look forward to becoming a sub-inspector in Punjab must have passed graduation. They should have studied Punjabi as one of the subjects. You can write Punjab Public service Commission exam to get the role of Sub-inspector. Also, you have another option. It is by writing the Union Public Service Commission exam (UPSC). Inspector:
After writing the exam for the sub-inspector post in Punjab police service commission, you should work for some years. Recruitment for this post is by writing the Punjab police service commission exam. This is the most followed and fastest method of becoming a circle inspector.
The other method is by the promotion of junior levels.

ASP & DSP

Selection Process
The selection process includes:
- Written examination.
- Physical measurement.

Written examination
The aspirants looking to get a police job should take on either the UPSC exam or Punjab police selection v=commission exam. If you are trying for UPSC, you should write a group 1 exam under it. Based on your ranking, you will get a different post.
PPSC exam is a long route, but the competition is quite less here. Because the candidates are mostly from Punjab, the person knowing Punjabi alone can write the exam.
Physical measurement
Physical measurement is done to find whether his height is fine to serve. Here height matters the most. There is no exemption from it.
Male candidates should have a minimum height of 5 feet 7 inches.
Female candidates should have a minimum height of 5 feet 3 inches.
Once the physical measurement test is succeeded the next one is Physical efficiency test (PET)
Physical efficiency test (PET)
The physical efficiency test is to determine one’s efficiency to fit physically. It shows his nature of handling the accused in case of urgency.
For male candidates (excluding ex-servicemen):
- Running – 1400 meters to be completed in 6 minutes 30 seconds (only one chance).
- Long jump – Aspirants should qualify by 3.80 meters within three chances.
- High jump – Aspirants should qualify by 1.15 meters within three chances.
For ex-servicemen:
- Running – 1400 meters to be completed in 9 minutes.
- Ten sit-ups in 2 minutes.
For female candidates:
- Running – Should complete 800 meters in 4 minutes 30 seconds.
- Long jump – Aspirants should qualify by 3.25 meters (3 chances).
- High jump – Aspirants should qualify by 1 meter (only one chance is given).
For ex-service women:
- Physical measurements
- Running – Aspirants should complete 800 meters in 8 minutes.
Once the physical measurement and physical efficiency test is over, there will be a call for an interview.
Interview
Once you got selected in the first three rounds, the final and important round is interview round. It is the toughest round in the entire selection process. If you succeed here, then no one can stop you from becoming an IPS officer. You should be mentally prepared to pass the hurdles.
They judge you by the edge to edge. You should feel confident in answering the questions. You should have known the current affairs. You should know previous big cases and ideas about how the policemen solve it.
