Thiruvalluvar University is in Vellore city, Tamil Nadu. It is a public University started by Tamil Nadu government. Its name is given after the famous Tamil philosopher and poet Thiruvalluvar. It started as extension centre for Post graduation for Madras University at Vellore, Fort campus. After division from Madras University, it shifted to Serkadu, Vellore in a new campus. It has huge campus of around 113 acres. To improve research and development, good facilities are given for the students.

CBCS/semester/non-semester exams get conducted for students. The exams get conducted for post-graduate degree and under-graduate students. The students are from affiliate colleges and departments of the University.
The semester and non semester exams get conducted twice in a year. One is in April and May and other is in November and December. The time-table is given in January. If a student fails, they can apply for revaluation, if they are sure they did well in exams. If students are not sure, they can give supplementary exams or instant exam. The supplementary exams get conducted in one to two months after the results get declared.
The semester and annual exams take place twice a year. The entrance exam is also conducted in month of March/April.
